ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
This solo exhibition of Mary's work at Art on 1st is a kaleidoscope of nature! From the explosion of warm colors in the grand landscape of an Appalachian Autumn to the cool hues of her intimate seascapes, Mary invites viewers to experience the glorious colors of the natural world through her lens and brush.
Meet the artist and enjoy a live encaustic painting demonstration during Roanoke's Art By Night at Art on 1st. Mary will talk about her work and about the history of the ancient art of painting with molten beeswax and resin. She will demonstrate the various techniques used in encaustic painting, as well as covering tips for working safely with the materials and fire, all while creating a unique work of art.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mary Hogan is an award-winning photographer and encaustic artist residing in Tazewell County, VA. She has taken home top awards for her work, such as Grand Prize in Shutterbug’s international “Time of the Season” competition, and Best in Show in Wild Heart Gallery’s “MOOD: Animals with Attitude 2024” International Juried Exhibition.
