Join us for a Healing Arts workshop focused on personal resilience. This workshop is open to anyone and everyone, including survivors of domestic violence who may not be affiliated with local programs or institutions. Through writing, collaging, and various art styles, we will create a picture of personal resilience using documents, prints, and photos associated with our journeys.
At the end of the workshop, we will come together for a presentation to share our stories and connect through the power of storytelling. This workshop is a safe and supportive space for healing and empowerment. No artistic experience is necessary – just an open heart and a willingness to explore your own resilience.
Come join us and discover the healing power of art and storytelling in a community of support and understanding.
About the Instructor
Rose, a Ph.D. student at Virginia Tech focusing on trauma-informed storytelling and education, uses her art and poetry to process the trauma of surviving domestic violence. After enduring an attack that left her hospitalized and unable to speak, she turned to poetry as a way to reclaim her voice and share her story. Her work seeks to destigmatize trauma and give other survivors the grace to acknowledge their strength while addressing the "darkness" that remains.
This workshop provides a unique opportunity to engage with a narrative of resilience, vulnerability, and hope. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence or abuse, help can be found at the Virginia Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Hotline (1-800-838-8238).
