Fred Styles: Connections


Show begins April 3 and runs until April 20, 2024 at Art On 1st.

Opening reception Friday, April 5th from 5-8pm. We’ll have live music from JoJo Stockton, No Refunds Band, Jay Gladden, Eli Williams, and John McGroom. Come join us!

Delve into the unique perspective of Fred Styles as he weaves together the musical vibes from his time at the iconic Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Sheffield, Alabama.

About the Artist

Fred Styles is a seasoned filmmaker, working as a Producer, Director, Unit Production Manager, and Location Manager in both film and television productions. In college, Fred played rock-music in several successful bands that performed around the Southeast USA. Three of Fred's band-mates worked as Studio Musicians & Producers in both Sheffield, AL & Macon, GA. His passion for photography has taken him on journeys across the globe with his wife, Peggy, capturing breathtaking moments along the way. These photos document some of Fred's work, friends, & travel over the last 50 plus years.

Musician Photos

Fred Styles’ lens has captured the essence of musical legends, featured in two recently published books, including Bill Connell’s ALLMAN JOY: Keeping the Beat with Duane and Gregg, with a foreword by Chuck Leavell, Music Director & Keyboard Player for The Rolling Stones.

Travel Photos

Embark on a visual journey across the globe as Fred and his wife, Peg, share snapshots from their travels spanning over 30 years. The Connections exhibit features photos from Kenya, Tanzania, Egypt, France, Italy, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States.

Film Production Stills

Fred’s photographs for this half of the exhibit were made during prep & production phases of several films. The shots are a behind-the-scenes look at production crew, equipment, and cast.

The exhibit will feature photos from films such as A Gathering of Old Men, The Emperor’s Club, Wish You Well, Spitfire Grill, The Ron Clark Story, Curtain Call, and the Kennedy mini-series with Martin Sheen.

Also included are photos from the award-winning HBO documentary Arther Ashe, Citizen of the World featuring Nelson Mandela.
